I would like to say thank you for reading this post and may we see each other next time in the future.
Summer 2019
Well, it looks like it's going to be my final entry for this blog. Before I say goodbye to Workability, I want to reminiscent the times I had with this program. I volunteered for a lot of companies and gained some job experience along the way. From handling food to interacting with people, I got a feel for what the business world looks like. I also learned how an interview works and practiced it so I can be prepared for it in the future. There were a few goofs here and there, but I can laugh it off with my classmates and my teacher.
I would like to say thank you for reading this post and may we see each other next time in the future.

Right now I am writing my last blog post from this class. These past 12 weeks I've learned the skills needed to be successful in a work setting (and just life in general). It was a great experience working with Rise Electronics, Autism Society, Hermitage Cat Shelter, and Food Conspiracy Co-Op. I now feel more prepared for what's needed in the real world.
My favorite parts have been working at Hermitage and Food Conspiracy Co-Op. Interviews will always be very nerve racking for me, but this class made me better at them in general. Maybe I'll get a job once I finish high school. If only everyone could learn these things at my age. This week we spent our last day at all our internship sites. Last week we made thank-you cards for all of the sites and gave them out this week. What was a surprise is when we gave our cards to Tim at Rise Electronics, he gave all of us cherry cranberry almond cookies as presents. Hermitage isn't completely over since I'm a registered volunteer there.
On the class side of things, we've been covering interviews all week. We started off mock interviewing each other. Since I want to work at Dairy Queen soon, I'm answering as if I were applying there. Then Amanda's sister came in and did a mock interview with all of us today. I'd say I've improved since the first one we did on Tuesday. This was the last week of our days with our four businesses that we go to help and be volunteer. Also this week is my last week being with Workability. What I learned is that when you care for one another you can do great things in life. Like if you want to win the state championships with your team, you have have to care for one another and have full courage and confidence. Once you have been with somebody for a some what amount of time then you know that you have made a friendship that will last forever.
My favorite part of this week was just working with my team and just having a good time with my friends. For Rise Electronics the people there were so nice and just working there made me feel happy. The cats at the Hermitage Cat Shelter were just so lovey and I never wanted to leave. And last, but not least the CO-OP Food Conspiracy it was amazing because the crew there was funny and fun to be around because me and the team just got a lot of things done to the point where they didn't know what to do with us. But on the other hand I'm really sad that this is my last day. I'm really going to miss my team and the rest of Workability. Thank you so much guys! I really appreciate it! This week was our last week of doing internships for the various companies we volunteered for educational purposes. Before we left them, we made homemade Thank You cards as a way of saying thanks for letting us volunteer. One of the companies we volunteered at was called Rise Electronics and it was the first place where we gave our cards. We gave the cards to one of the workers and to my surprise, we were gifted with granola cookies. I didn't expect a gift from them but I thanked him and took them home.
My favorite thing this week was going to the Hermitage Cat Shelter. I enjoy working there and everyone is already like family. They use a great example of teamwork and strive to educate the public as well as save lives.
I got the chance to see a 5 day old kitten and had the chance to spend time with all the lovable felines. Everything about the Hermitage is fantastic and I highly recomend going there if you are looking to adopt a cat. I really hope to work at this place! This week my class went over what resumes are and how they help us get the job. I had some experience with resumes before so this isn't the first time I heard of them. We went over on how certain resumes may look depending on where you work, the format, and how they're crucial to landing a job. Once we're done with that, we attempted to make one but the Internet wasn't working at the Abbey School so it was moved to the next day. To make up for it, Mrs. Amanda decided to show different resume templates we can use on Google Docs.
The next day, we were doing different activities such as making resumes and Thank You cards for the places we went to volunteer. I decided to do the resume and managed to get it done since the Internet was working. While I was doing other activities, I noticed one of my classmate playing on the phone instead of working on his activities. I told him to get working but he kept on playing so I let him do what he's doing. Later on when I'm working, I learned the reason why he was playing. He ran out of ideas to write for his blog. What I learned is that helping out buisnesses is really big for the community because it helps a lot. When you become a volunteer for a buisness you are fully responsible to get the job done and you have to be very trustworthy and respectful. Being a volunteer is really fun sometimes because you can make new friends and get to know about the buisness and the people that you work with.
My favorite part of the week was going to the CO-OP and being a pro at cleaning, skinning, and cutting potatoes. We wrote resemes and I thought it was pretty good because I went and finished it really fast. Also I really want to in the future be a part of Shoe Palace because it looks like a really good buisness to be a part of. This week we learned about resumes and what they're used for. I had a resume already, but I was able to make some changes to it. We also covered money and independent living. Now I know that it will be a lot easier to make money to live if you apply for a full-time job rather than part-time. I really enjoyed working with kitties at Hermitage Cat Shelter. I disinfected the bathrooms and did the laundry. I also got to play with the sweet cats! There was an adorable little 5-day old that we just got to see. Yesterday after class, I recorded my video interview for the Transition Conference in Phoenix next month. What I learned today was that every time you try something new always have full convidence and never ever be afraid/nervous or think that you can't do it, because deep down inside of you, you are telling yourself that you can do this and no matter what gets in your way, you will dodge it and move forward. Today I went to the mall with my team and got some applications from two jobs I thought were interesting and maybe wanted to try it out in the future. Shoe Palace was the first one I went to and it was amazing because the guys that are there are just fantastic they always greet you even though when you first walk in or when you have already been there and you come back. Also I am fanatic with shoes, so I think that it would be a good future job for me or even a upcoming job I might get after summer break.
