Today, we reviewed money management, pay stubs, and volunteering. We need to pay our bills before we go bowling. Pay stubs include gross and net earnings. We wish our paychecks were the gross earnings! Volunteering helps build relationships that could lead to a job. We rehearsed our slide presentation. We are ready to celebrate our success tomorrow.

Allie

Volunteer: I am interested in volunteering with the Town of Marana Bat Study because I like to look at the bats flying at night.  I would also like to help the town setup for special events.
Job Readiness:  I worked independently at the vet clinic after I learned the tasks. I followed directions and got along with others.  I am ready to start a job because I am independent. I maintain a positive attitude and willingness to work.
Supports:  My parents and grandparents love me and care for me. They support me by providing positive feedback and guidance. Michael B. is my support coordinator. Miss Jackie is my Employment Specialist at WorkAbility.
My job interests are working with animals at a vet clinic or pet store, crew member at Chipotle
, and crew member/stocker at Pet Smart.

PAYDAY-Paychecks lead to Independence

7/24/2018

Paychecks give us our own money to spend and save. Gross earnings are hourly wage times how many hours we worked. Net earnings are the amount of the paycheck after taxes Checking accounts are for everyday spending. Saving accounts are for special occasion expenses. Jobs and paychecks lead to independence. Budgeting for food and fun brings a happy life!

I have to pay bills before I buy cookies. I like shopping but it is important to save money. I went to Wells Fargo and met Jessica. We shook hands. She was nice. I learned there is special glass in front of the tellers for safety.
Angel
I like shopping. I like to buy Star Wars costumes. I have to pay the water and phone bill before I can buy costume.  I have to buy food because I like to eat.  Jessica at Wells Fargo said job descriptions are on the internet.
Allie
I learned that paying bills are a big priority for being independent. I know that I have to pay the electric, water, and phone bill before I go shopping for food. I like to buy healthy stuff.  I asked Jessica at Wells Fargo, " Does Wells Fargo hire people with a disability." She said, "Yes." She has a button at her desk for emergencies.

We were assigned the task of sorting party supplies. We set up tables to create an assembly line.  Then, we created and labeled crates to hold the items. Together, we opened boxes and bags, and took out cake mixes, frosting, plates, candles, pans, and other party supplies. Next, we placed similar items in the same crate. Finally, we relocated the cake mixes and frosting to the pantry. We placed the like flavors together on the selves.

We enjoyed working at Old Navy today! We cleaned the store. We folded shirts and jeans. Then, we learned the proper steps of returning items in the correct location. Adrian, the outreach coordinator at Old Navy, was a great teacher. Marabelle, the general manager, was very nice to let us explore jobs at Old Navy.
