What I liked about WorkAbility was learning about all of the different topics that we talked about during this 8 week summer program. I have made a lot of new friends and I am also going to text Anna this summer too. I will miss WorkAbility. I liked hearing about health and safety and also stranger danger. Sometimes it was hard for me to focus but I am working on it. I liked going to Live Theatre Workshop. I liked hearing about the different shows that they were doing.

During my time at WorkAbility I met some awesome friends and teachers. I want to say thank you to all the teachers and staff at UCPSA and WorkAbility. What I learned at WorkAbility helped me very much. My favorite place was Desert Survivors because I got to learn how to garden. Before I came to WorkAbility I was so scared to work, and now I'm not scared anymore. I'm going to miss all my new friends and teachers very much. I like WorkAbility because they help people with disabilities and I think it's pretty cool that there is a program that like. I had so much fun. Have a fun and safe rest of your summer! Me and my parents loved the program very much. Thank you so much for everything you guys taught me this summer!! :)Today Sprinkles (our teacher's dog) came and visited us at WorkAbility. We talked about different topics such as: professionalism, teamwork, attitude & enthusiasm, and diversity. We played with Sprinkles today and we made her tired out (she was even snoring and moaning). We are going to miss this program and we had so much fun. Anna is sad to leave this program. Katy feels the same way. Have a fun and safe rest of our summer! :(
Today, I was the only one in class. We talked about checking, savings account, we went to Fry's and the mall to ask some questions about jobs. I asked questions at Bath &Body Works and I would like to work there. We joined class after lunch and talked about Disability Benefits. I felt okay because I know about the money. I had fun and I missed Katy.
Today we went to The Hermitage Cat Shelter and we cleaned the cat food cans. We cleaned the cat shelves, litter boxes, took out trash, and swept the floor. After we worked we played with the kittens and one of us played with the cats. The new kittens names were Heathcliff, Marcy, Starlight, and Desmond. Today was our last day at the cat shelter and we were very sad to leave the shelter and say bye to the kittens. Today Chase joined us because Jasmine was sick.
Today we went to Desert Survivors and fixed the doors. We switched the door handles on each door. We filled up the pots with dirt for the nursery. We got certificates for our hard work and completing 5 weeks work experience at Desert Survivors. They gave us pizza and gummy worm cupcakes to celebrate our last day. They gave us business cards so that we can keep in touch.
Today was our last day at Live Theatre Workshop. We cleaned the lobby we took out the trash, and we also dusted the stuff in the lobby. We took off the white tape on the stairs, because it was falling apart. The tape was there so that the people could see where the stairs were. We put more snacks and drinks out for the students and staff. We had fun on our last day at Live Theatre Workshop, and we are going to miss it.
Thank you cards are a way of saying thank you to someone that helps you do something. Your hand writing has to be neat and nice to understand the letter. We were writing thank you notes to each place we helped at. Thank you card are important to give out to people who help you. Today we did work around building 635 at UCP. We cleaned the bathrooms. Cleaning the bathrooms isn't as bad as we thought it would be. We thought that there might be more of a mess and gross, but they are actually pretty clean to start with. We had to water all of the plants. They need a lot of water since it is so hot outside. It takes almost 2 hours total to water all of the plants, but we can do other work while the water is going. One student swept the kitchen, another cleaned the table and chairs, and the last cleaned the counter. We took out the trash and the recycling and put new bags in the trash cans. One student (with the help of the teacher) brought in all of the recycling and trash bins from the street. The bins were really hot on their hands, but they worked through it. The other two students cleaned the classroom - cleaned the tables and other surfaces, swept, and cleaned the windows. We checked all of the printers in building 635 and brought reams of paper if they needed more. We cleaned out the patio area. The table was REALLY dirty from the rain, so we cleaned that off. We also swept the patio and the stairs and raked up the leaves. See the picture below of our newly cleaned table.
We worked on our resumes today.
We went out to the Tropical Kingdom pet shop. We saw fish, snakes, rabbits, birds, turtle, guinea pigs, hamster, and an eel. You have to be 16 years old to work there. They are a family owned business. You have to be careful when working with animals because you can hurt them and they can hurt you. We had fun. Today we went to the cat shelter. We cleaned the cat litter boxes, shelves, bathroom, cat food cans, and swept. We did not see Orange Tail(Creeper) because he was at Petco trying to get adopted. We did not see any kittens at the shelter today, because they got adopted.
