This is our first week of the Workshop A. We talked about the True Color Test. This Test tells you what your color is out of Orange, Green, Blue, and Gold. Each color represents different characteristics. It can help you figure out how you learn best and what strengths you bring to a team. It also helps you decide what jobs you might like or tasks that you prefer. I am Gold which means we like to work before play, we care about traditions, and we like things organized.

We watched our video of the Final Film Project that we worked on. We practiced our lines. The other class watched our video and they really liked it. Then we went to Lucky Strike Bowling. I got a few strikes and a few spares! It was fun being with the friends we made and eating pizza.
Keli'i Today we talked about the Disability Benefits 101 and about SSI. We talked about how much money you make in the workplace and how to calculate the gross wage in a per week. We also looked up the website called Arizona Center for Disability Law and learned about what they do. ACDL helps with legal issues and things that affect your rights.
Keli'i Self-advocacy helps you to stand up for yourself. Having disabilities means needing to ask for help. It is important for everyone to know about disabilities.
Keli'i Garden KitchenThe Garden Kitchen visited our Workshop this week. We really enjoyed talking to them and learning about all the things they do. One of their biggest programs is Seed to Table. This program demonstrates and teaches you how to grow food in the desert as well as some great recipes. If you take a class you get to eat what you make at the end...Yum! The Garden Kitchen also has Community Events. Some upcoming events are:
All Classes are FREE & Open to the Public 2205 S. 4th Ave South Tucson Keli'i The Importance of Good HygieneThis week we talked about hygiene & grooming. Hygiene is keeping yourself clean. That means taking a shower everyday, brushing your teeth, trimming and cleaning your nails, putting deodorant on, shaving and brushing your hair. If you practice good hygiene you won’t be stinky. It will be easier making friends, getting a job and being healthy.
Keli'i Keli'i's BlogWe worked on Mock Interviews this week. Practice is Important! If you practice you will be more confident in your interview. My advice is to dress in a professional outfit and make sure you are well groomed like I am in my picture! Try to maintain good eye contact with the person interviewing you. You will do great!!
Keli'i TransportationLast Thursday we rode the bus to go downtown to the Ronstadt Center. We went to a Mexican Restaurant called Alejandro’s to have lunch. We visited the Transportation Museum but the doors close at 3 pm, so you need to get downtown early in the day. You can visit the Museum for free but if you want a guided tour there is a charge. I made sure I loaded my SunGo card for our trip!
Keli'i This week we learned about Transportation. We visited the Sun Tran website and practiced planning and scheduling rides. I already use the bus so I was able to help out my peers. Thursday we will be taking a trip on the Bus. For some of us it will be our first public bus ride. If you are paying for your ride with cash, you must have exact change. The Bus Driver is not able to provide change. I am looking forward to our bus trip!
Keli'i It is important to know how to take care of yourself. The ways you can do this are by eating the right food and having good nutrition and by getting enough sleep. We watched a video on cooking healthy food. We also talked about having good hygiene, exercising regularly, and staying hydrated.
