Last Thursday we rode the bus to go downtown to the Ronstadt Center. We went to a Mexican Restaurant called Alejandro’s to have lunch. We visited the Transportation Museum but the doors close at 3 pm, so you need to get downtown early in the day. You can visit the Museum for free but if you want a guided tour there is a charge. I made sure I loaded my SunGo card for our trip!
Our Workshop participated in Travel Training. We took a Sun-Tran bus trip downtown to the Ronstadt Center. It was fun because we got learn how to ride the bus. We also walked to the Transportation Museum and saw the old locomotive. We stopped and had lunch at Alejandro’s and we were able to see how the restaurant closes down for the day…Lots of cleaning!
I ride Sun Van. I had to apply for an ADA Para-transit Card at the downtown office. I also have a SunGo Card that I show to the Sun Van Driver so he/she knows that I am eligible. You must call Sun Van a day ahead to schedule your rides. You can only schedule 10 rides at a time. You can't eat or drink on Sun Van just like Sun Tran. Sometimes you need to be patient because this is a door to door service so some days people may need more help on or off the Van. My drivers are always nice.
This week we learned about Transportation. We visited the Sun Tran website and practiced planning and scheduling rides. I already use the bus so I was able to help out my peers. Thursday we will be taking a trip on the Bus. For some of us it will be our first public bus ride. If you are paying for your ride with cash, you must have exact change. The Bus Driver is not able to provide change. I am looking forward to our bus trip!
You must always figure out the right bus route that you’re looking for.
You must have the exact bus fare which is $1.50 if you don’t and you pay with a 5 dollar bill you will not get change back.
When sitting in the front of the bus if an elderly woman or a woman with a baby comes on the bus it is courteous to give up your seat.
When you see your stop you pull the cord and that will signal the driver to stop so you can get off.
