Being a peer mentor helped me learn how to take thing more seriously.
I learned how to take action when something happens.
I also learned to work with people as a team.
My next step is to begin to look for a job.
I have a lot of hope that I will find a job where I will work hard.
Hello my name is Luquentas and I am a peer mentor for the yellow and red class. My job is to help
students by helping them write things, take take them for a walk if they need one,
I keep an eye on the garbage, I help the teachers by taking charge of the sign out sheets,
and I participate during class talks. Week 1 and 2 was good.
I got to know every student, it was not hard for me because I have a positive attitude.I also have to talk to the teacher to know what I should be doing.
I really liked being at Work Ability this summer. It's good for my work experience. I also will be miss being
around with my friends at WorkAbility and I will wish them the best of luck. I am thinking
about coming to work when I can be able to return with a good positive mental attitude. I learned that it is not good to have excuses that are not real. I will keep on bring the doctors note when I go to the doctor. Thank You WorkAbility.
This week is the last week of WorkAbility! I am so glad that I got to know everyone! Yesterday we talked about volunteering, doing a self assessment about independence, making job lists, discussing supports, and choosing review topics! Today we are going bowling at Lucky Strike Bowling! A lot of fun! All 5 classes will be there! Tomorrow we are celebrating and having a lot of food and people and having a fun day!
I'm going to miss Jasmine a lot and she is an awesome teacher! Also I miss everyone because they are so amazing! I will miss classes; they are so awesome I know. It was an awesome 8 weeks! We did hard work at internships! Shea is so awesome peer mentor in Nubia's class! Emily is so awesome. I got to know her!
WorkAbility is so awesome.
I will miss her! I already did plan go do one-on-one with Workability.
What i'm going to miss about internships are going to our favorite work places which are
the Co-Op, Live Theater, Blue Moon Scrapbook, and DIRECT. What I did as for a peer mentor this week was helped out my co-workers for an example I worked with David he did so well
by working along beside me as his peer mentor. I feel sad that the internships are ending, because I liked working, and helping the students. This week was very fun.
This week is the last week of internships! It was an awesome week! We went to UCP on Monday and I enjoy talking to people and working with people! Tuesday we went to Big Heart Coffee and it was the best! I will visit soon! We went to Pawsitively Cats on Wednesday and it's nice because the cats are cool! Thursday we went to Abbie School but no one was there so we went to Park Place Mall. Today, yellow class and green class are discussing interview strategies and doing practice interviews.
Being a Peer Mentor, I have helped with everyone at internships and I worked with everyone. I don't like Pawsitively Cats because it smells bad! I really like Big Heart Coffee because it smells good and coffee smells good. I enjoy UCP because there are people to talk to a little bit and it is a good place to work! I don't like Abbie School because it's too hot outside! What a wonderful 7 weeks! I will miss Big Heart Coffee and UCP. I learned to love mopping at Big Heart Coffee! I learned from UCP that I like people because I liked talking to them when they had a little bit of time and thought they were great people.
I'm so sad that next week is the last day! What a wonderful Summer Program! I am proud to be a Peer Mentor! We will celebrate next Friday.
I don't have work on Monday and Tuesday. It's because it's a holiday, so I hung out with my family on Tuesday night for 4th of July! Wednesday was our first day back at Workability and we went to Pawsitively Cats. We went to The Abbie School on Thursday! We worked hard on Wednesday and Thursday! Today, I will be working on finishing my meeting note, resume, thank you cards, and helping other classes. We will be planning an outing at Park Place as a big group to practice job searching questions and watch employees. What a great week.
Today is my last day at WorkAbility. I made a decision to finish early. My experience has been amazing helping summer program students. It taught me to learn how to become a good peer mentor. My class means a lot to me, because they are special not only where we a class but we are a TEAM. and teamwork is very important in a career and they taught me that. Thank you for everything WorkAbility.
