When working at the offices I did shredding. I had to go into people’s office and ask them for the paper that needs to be shredded. It was important to remember to be quiet when I was walking in the offices because they might be working the computer or on the phone calling. At the beginning it was hard to keep my voice down, but with practice I was able to learn that skill. Thank you UCP and WorkAbility for letting us volunteer.
I learned that I have to take a water bottle because we walked a lot. I also had to wear blue gloves to pick up trash. We had to go around and picked trash up from the sidewalks. I had to wear shoes, pants, purple shirt, and a purple hat.
At the Children’s clinic I was working with kids. I helped make art crafts like name tags, caterpillars, hearts, and coloring's. I was helping the people. I watered the flower pots around the clinic. I used my communication device to talk to people to ask if they wanted a snack. I really liked interning at the Clinic. I learned to always wash your hands with soap because there is a lot of germs.
I learned how to use gloves to bag cucumbers at the food bank. I had to put 8 cucumbers in a bag. I worked with a team to get all the bags done. I liked working at the food bank everyone was very nice to WorkAbility.
