Disclosure and Self-advocacy are basically the same, but different. Self-advocacy is basically verbally expressing your needs for specific accommodations. A great example of Self-advocacy is, if a person has a yearly Individual Service Plan, or ISP, then they can express their wants, needs, preference’s , and their supervisor can look in to getting needs met.
Disclosure, on the other hand, is if a person with a disability gets a job, and decides to disclose to the supervisor, or manager of the establishment about their disability, that means that their Self-advocating for themselves .
