Thank you Job Sites!!

Today we dropped off thank you posters to our job sites. We are so grateful for them hosting our group this summer.  We learned many professional skills like:
  • The importance of a positive attitude
  • Be on-time
  • Communicate if you are late or absent with your boss
  • Always give 100%
  • Have good hygiene

My Last Week of the Summer Program

1) I liked doing tasks at The Garden Kitchen. I worked inside and outside. We worked hard and were a good team. We enjoyed it at The Garden Kitchen.

2) My favorite part of the program is that I met new people at Workability. I have loved getting to know people this summer. What an awesome 8 weeks!

3) This is my last week at Workability. I’m going to miss people and teachers and Workability, but I will take a Workability class at the University of Arizona next month. That program is called Project Focus. Tomorrow is our last day celebration. We will be delivering Thank-You Posters to our job-sites. We will be having a party and our family will be coming to check out all the cool things we have done and eat some Eegee's! What awesome people and program!

Resumes

This week we worked on our resumes. Your resume is your primary marketing tool. The purpose of a resume is to get an interview. A resume also shows what kind of skills, education and background you have.  Do include your name, address, phone number, e-mail address on your resume. Do NOT include a date; you should put a date on your cover letter, NOT on your resume. You must have a few references. This could be a Teacher or someone who has seen you show up on time, communicate with others, and complete what was asked of you. For example, someone from a place you volunteered.

Sun Tran

Sun Tran visited Workability today. They have 250 buses in Tucson. If you need any help you can ask the bus driver. They also have a Customer Service number is 520-628-1565 and they are open M-F 6 am-7 pm and Sat-Sun 8 am-5 pm. To ride the bus you must follow the rules. Here are some of the rules:
  • No fighting, smoking, or eating
  • No loud music
  • Never run after the bus. The driver is not allowed to stop after he has left the bus stop.
  • Listen to your bus driver
  • Respect other passengers (No loud cell phone conversations)
  • No bad language
  • If an elderly or disabled person needs a seat and you are sitting in the front of the bus, you will need to offer them your seat
  • If you leave something on the bus, you will need to call Lost and Found and make an appointment which can take a few days

Teamwork

Hunter and I were a team today at Big Heart Coffee. We worked outside and inside. Outside we cleaned chairs, tables, and swept the entryway. Inside we took turns washing and drying tables and chairs, as well as sweeping. We were a good team and we worked hard. We had fun!

Big Heart Coffee

This week I went to Big Heart Coffee on Wednesday. I love working at Big Heart Coffee. It starts around 10:00 am and is done around 12:00 pm. Big Heart Coffee said all employees should wear a black shirt if they have it, otherwise grey and white are acceptable. Don't use your phone at work. Be kind to others, say please and thank you, and follow directions given by staff.
