Garden KitchenThe Garden Kitchen visited our Workshop this week. We really enjoyed talking to them and learning about all the things they do. One of their biggest programs is Seed to Table. This program demonstrates and teaches you how to grow food in the desert as well as some great recipes. If you take a class you get to eat what you make at the end...Yum! The Garden Kitchen also has Community Events. Some upcoming events are:

Volunteering at The Tucson Boys and Girls ClubI am very interested in working with children as my career. I applied to be a Volunteer at the Tucson Boys and Girls Club so I can learn new skills. I currently am a Nursery Aide at my church but I only work with Infants - 5 years old. I filled out an application and paid for a background check. After my information was reviewed I was offered a position to Volunteer! I am very excited about this opportunity and can't wait to get started.
Melanie Guest Speaker - Garden KitchenJacqui Stork came to visit us from The Garden Kitchen. She let us know about the program and how it is connected to the University of Arizona. The Garden Kitchen helps teach people about making healthy food choices and how to grow food in the desert. They also teach people how to raise chickens for fresh eggs. They have many options for you to volunteer and do several community events throughout the year. I would like to become a volunteer with the Garden Kitchen!
Jenna VolunteeringReasons to Volunteer
I am looking at volunteering at the HabiStore. I can learn many skills like how to put furniture together, customer service, stocking, and cashiering. Here is a link to check them out! https://www.habitattucson.org/ Aaron Resume-What you needYou will need a resume to get a job and get paid. Your resume should include the following:
Aaron The Importance of Good HygieneThis week we talked about hygiene & grooming. Hygiene is keeping yourself clean. That means taking a shower everyday, brushing your teeth, trimming and cleaning your nails, putting deodorant on, shaving and brushing your hair. If you practice good hygiene you won’t be stinky. It will be easier making friends, getting a job and being healthy.
Keli'i TeamworkIt is good to work with a team. You can get the job done faster and it is nice to work with other people. It takes many different types of people to make a good team. Each person brings something unique. Diversity is a great thing!!
Jenna Mock InterviewsThis week we did Mock Interviews. I have been working hard on improving my response time and have made quite a bit of progress. I am feeling much more confident now. When you first start it may feel scary but keep trying and you will feel better I promise!
Melanie Mock InterviewsWe participated in Mock Interviews this week. I was very nervous when we first started but by the last one I was feeling much more at ease. I watched videos of my interviews so I was able to see the parts I did well with and what I need to work on. I am happy it's over!!
Jenna Keli'i's BlogWe worked on Mock Interviews this week. Practice is Important! If you practice you will be more confident in your interview. My advice is to dress in a professional outfit and make sure you are well groomed like I am in my picture! Try to maintain good eye contact with the person interviewing you. You will do great!!
