Training Stations

Training StationsToday I did a Restaurant Training Station. I learned about setting the dishes, placing out the silverware, and rolling the silverware in a napkin. Maybe I’ll work at a restaurant someday! Practicing skills now may help me get the job in the future. Alan

Self-Advocacy and Disability RightsToday I learned about self-advocacy, disclosure, and disability rights. I think it was cool to watch the video about disability rights! I also learned from the video about how there wasn’t ramps and sidewalk cut outs for people in wheelchairs. The American’s Disability Act gave the right of education to all children and allowed disabled people to bring service pets into public places like restaurants and public transportation. Alan VolunteeringI learned about volunteering last week. I helped an elderly lady clean up her yard. It was nice helping a friend in need! Two important things I learned about Volunteering are that its great helping others and you can learn new skills. I am a volunteer at the food bank helping to feed hungry people and I like it.

Alan Mock Interviews I did practice interviews Tuesday. Dom and I interviewed each other. It was helpful practicing with Dom. I also learned the differences between good interviews and bad interviews. Good is showing up on time, and bad is dressing casually. I did some research about Olive Garden. I did mock interviews with DeeDee’s Dad. It was very helpful practicing with DeeDee’s Dad! I also learned about some feedback on how my mock interview went. I got hired!
Alan Bus and TransportationYesterday, I went on a SunTran bus downtown and enjoyed it very much. It costs $1.50! We went to see the Transportation Museum and the Courthouse where I asked for an application for a job. My favorite part of the trip was the Transportation Museum!!
