Collecting carts: Collecting carts was a struggle, but I learned to deal with it. It was a good learning experience. Bussing the tables: Cleaning up the mess not as bad as I thought it would be. I probably don't want to bus tables.

We trained for bussing tables and collecting shopping carts. I liked bussing the tables. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. It might be a good job for me. It was easier to do compared to the carts even though I was able to collect the carts with a good time score. It was still very challenging and hard. I am not interested in doing that job. I didn't give up and put in my best effort. -Kiara
The Wilmot-Murphy library is my favorite library in Tucson. I learned what else you can do besides checking out books. They can help you with job applications. You can read to a dog. You can do research on a computers. They have fiction, non-fiction, kids books, newspapers, DVDs, CDs and you can have books delivered to you from other libraries.
We were given a tour into the backroom where the librarians work. The librarians have to share their work space, communicate and get along with each other. The librarian spoke about internships and a person who helps you look for work. We went to the Pima County Transition and Young Adult Job Fair at 29th street Coalition Center. It had a lot of interesting tables. We practicing our communication skills. We had to come out of our shell. It isn't always easy.
Volunteering means working for free. You aren't getting paid but you are getting experience.
Volunteering at Ben's Bells was relaxing and something different. Volunteering is the right thing to do. Doing things for others will make you feel good. If you put it in your resume, it will make a good impression because you are taking the initiative to do something productive with your time. For job interviews you have to:
Some of us were nervous and some of us were confident. We all felt more comfortable the second day. Kiara: It was harder when they asked me questions that I didn't prepare for. I think I did pretty well for my first mock interview ever. Now I understand what I have to do for a real interview. Julie: I feel more confident now after practicing. The hard part is waiting to hear from them afterwards. In the past I would bug the employer and now I will wait. Kelli: My interviewers said that I have improved from my first interview. I felt like I did really well with Christina because I was able to laugh. Trinity: Overall, I was really nervous for the first mock interview but I did better than expected. I like how every interviewer was with me. We went on Sun Link. It was really, really fun. It was fast and smooth. - Julie
If I can't get my own car, it is nice to know that Sun Link might be an option of getting where I want to go. I like it better than the bus. - Kiara The sun link was quiet. I liked being able to look out the windows. We went to Mercado and had doughnuts. - Kelli We were picking out stuff that we use for our hygiene. We did it on our own without asking for help. We didn't ask for help from the people working there, so that we could be as independent as possible.
Professionalism- the competence or skill expected of a professional. Meaning, to do jobs you are supposed to do and following the rules at your job. Professionalism is always needed at every job and anywhere even if it's not job related. The reason why this skill is so important is so that you learn how good it makes you look and so that you don't come off as unprofessional at your job or anything else. How you dress, your personal hygiene, and your attitude have everything to do with professionalism itself.
